American Deer Classics & Outdoors Expos

The Deer Classics Story

The story of the American Deer Classics is an interesting one. It started over 25 years ago when founders of the Wildlife Heritage Association became concerned that the majority of legislative and business leaders had no rural or wildlife oriented background.  The concern was that, budgets and laws were being passed which were anti-environmental and anti-wildlife. Founders of the Wildlife Heritage Association decided to create a showcase event that would demonstrate the popularity and economic importance of deer hunting.

The Minnesota Deer Classic was designed to create an opportunity for deer hunters to have their trophy deer, bear, moose and Minnesota elk trophies scored by the Boone & Crockett measuring system and to have them listed in a state record book (Minnesota Record Book) which the Association produced in conjunction with the show. Seminars about hunting, game conservation, wildlife management, fair chase ethics, safety, field care, food preparation and many other subjects are presented during all hours of the show. These seminars have become so popular that two and three seminar stages are running simultaneously at the shows today. The data in the state record books have become important legal documents and  reference material as well as treasured family heirlooms.   An updated book is published every four years.  Six editions have been published to-date.

Expert speakers are brought into all of the American Deer Classic Shows to present their expertise on a wide variety of subjects. These seminars are an excellent way to get to know how these experts have acquired their skill and knowledge of wildlife.

The Trophy Display at the Deer Classics demonstrates the pride that deer hunters take in their hunting skills. The display also serves as a challenge to young and inexperienced hunters as well as offering proof that these elusive trophy animals do exist and can be taken with dedication, skill and hunting opportunity.
